This calendar for Seoul includes all the holiday people have in 2020 as it is a calendar for people who live in the place, I believe holidays are the ones people care about the most. The format I have used is application as there are lots of complicated information to convey in one screen, and I felt an application is the best way to convey various information as the screen can change through just a simple tap, which keeps the screen clean and simple.

The font used in the application “Seoul” is Seoul Hangang L. There are two representative fonts for Seoul: Seoul Hangang and Seoul Namsan fonts. However, I have chosen the Seoul Hangang instead of the other one due to the round serif it contains. When we refer back to the time when we first started writing traditional Korean, the mediums we used were calligraphic brush and ink. The use of calligraphic brush and ink naturally created serif on the Korean alphabets, which can be seen through the round serif of Seoul Hangang font.

Furthermore, I have used cold and warm colors to show the average temperature of the month. Those months with temperatures lower than 20 had cold blue colors (10~19 had cold green), and those above 20 had warm colors like red and orange. For 0, I have used grey – a color without any hue and saturation because it is neither positive nor negative.

Lastly, the sunrise and sunset time is shown in gradients with blue and red for two reasons. First of all, these two colors are the representative colors of Korea, which can be derived from the Korean flag. Secondly, I wanted to keep the theme of using cold and warm colors, and these colors were the edge of cold and warm.
